"While aerobic exercise is very important, it is much less effective for overall health" when performed independently compared with when people include all four kinds of exercise in their routine, exercise stated Dr. Edward Laskowski, co-director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center in Rochester, Minnesota. "They kind of go together" and complement each other, Laskowski said.

Putting it all together

Ideally, you should include all four kinds of exercise in your own workouts. But that does not mean you have to perform four separate workouts, Drew said.
