"While aerobic exercise is very important, it is much less effective for overall health" when performed independently compared with when people include all four kinds of exercise in their routine, exercise stated Dr. Edward Laskowski, co-director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center in Rochester, Minnesota. "They kind of go together" and complement each other, Laskowski said.
As an instance, strength training makes muscles stronger, which, in turn, helps support and protect joints -- and this might help prevent injury during aerobic exercise. Putting it all together

Ideally, you should include all four kinds of exercise in your own workouts. But that does not mean you have to perform four separate workouts, Drew said. You can combine some exercises together, such as strength and balance training. By way of example, you could do bicep curls while standing on one leg. Some exercises, like yoga, incorporate strength, flexibility and balance exercises.
A sample workout might include running or walking briskly for 30 minutes on a treadmill for aerobic exercise, then doing strength and balance exercises joint, and finishing by performing some static stretches, Drew said. "Your exercise program should include a little bit of all four [types of exercise]," Drew explained.
